‘Ashi no Hadagi’ Tabi Socks Silk and Wool
This Tabi sock features a double-layer structure, knitted with 100% wool on the outside and 100% silk on the inside.
The inner layer has a flat, smooth construction—similar to our “petta” series—making it slightly thinner than the inner-pile version of our Silk & Wool five-toe socks. Both wool and silk have excellent moisture-regulating properties, quickly absorbing and releasing perspiration and impurities from the soles of your feet. This keeps your feet comfortable throughout the year.
Although lightweight, the sock still provides warmth, making it suitable even for colder seasons.
〈Features of Tabi Socks〉
One of the benefits of Tabi socks is that they help center your body’s natural balance.
Human feet are originally structured to bear weight between the big toe and the second toe. Placing fabric in this area naturally encourages better alignment and activates the small muscles that support the arch between the base of the big toe and the little toe. This is said to help prevent bunions.
There is a slight pressure between the toes, but we have refined the design through many prototypes to minimize discomfort. The fit becomes more comfortable with wear and washing, though some people may feel a mild unfamiliar sensation at first.
Interestingly, this area corresponds to an acupressure point called “Hachi-Fū”, which is believed to promote blood circulation in the feet and gently warm the body. You may enjoy the gentle stimulation as part of the experience.
(For reference, five-toe socks stimulate eight Hachi-Fū points in total—four on each foot.)
