‘Ashi no Hadagi’ Tabi Socks Silk and Wool
This is a Tabi-style sock made with a double-layered structure: 100% wool on the outside and 100% silk on the inside.
The inner layer has a flat construction, similar to our petta socks, making it slightly thinner than our five-toe silk and wool socks with pile.
Both wool and silk naturally absorb and release moisture and impurities from the soles of the feet. These fibres are highly breathable and thermoregulating, which makes this sock suitable for all seasons.
Although it’s thin, it offers warmth as well—comfortable in winter, and breathable enough for warmer seasons too.
〈Features of Tabi Socks〉
One of the key benefits of Tabi socks is that they help centre your body’s balance.
The human foot has evolved for bipedal walking, and the natural point of balance tends to fall between the big toe and the second toe.
By placing fabric between these two toes, Tabi socks can help you align your posture more naturally. They also engage the muscles that support the arch between the base of the big toe and little toe, which may help in preventing bunions.
There is some pressure between the toes due to the Tabi structure, but we have carefully refined the design to minimise discomfort.
As you wear and wash them over time, the socks will gradually become more comfortable.
If you do feel slight pressure at first, please know that the area between the big toe and second toe contains the Hachifū pressure point, which is said to help stimulate circulation and warm the feet.
(Some say this point is activated in five-toe socks as well—eight points in total for both feet!)
