A hot water bottle cover knitted from 100% organic cotton yarn. Left undyed, the organic cotton fabric is wonderfully soft and fluffy, almost like a stuffed toy.

This distinctive texture begins with the yarn itself. Fine organic cotton yarn is first knitted into a narrow tube to create a soft, rounded yarn known in Japan as "Lily yarn" (Rilyan).

This specially made yarn is then used generously to create a beautifully textured, three-dimensional knitted fabric. Two layers of this fabric are carefully joined together, creating a layer of air between them to gently soften the heat of the hot water bottle.

Rather than being knitted into its final shape entirely by machine, each cover is carefully sewn and assembled by hand. Even the drawstring is made individually, knitted on a traditional machine that has been in use for many years.

From preparing the yarn to knitting, sewing, and finishing, each cover passes through many processes and skilled hands before it is finally complete.

The cover is reversible, with a charming, textured surface on one side and a simple, flat finish on the other. You can enjoy two different looks, or use the different sides to distinguish between family members' covers.

A hot water bottle offers a comfort and warmth all its own, a little like a relaxing soak in the bath. We hope it helps ease the tiredness of each day. The metal hot water bottle can be reheated directly over a flame, so it is very easy to use: heat the water, close the lid, slip the bottle into the cover and place it in your bed before you sleep. When it cools the next day, simply heat it again. Ceramic hot water bottles have their own soft warmth too, so please choose whichever you prefer. The appeal of a metal one is its ease of use and the reassurance that it won’t break.
