These soft toe socks are knitted with 100% silk yarn on the inside that touches the skin and 100% wool on the outside, now in a kids' size.

Last year, we actually received a question from a father: "Are there any good socks for children's chilblains?" I've been thinking about it ever since. I'm prone to chilblains myself — as a child my toes were always red and swollen, and even now as an adult my hands get chilblains from the freezing tap water in winter, so I know all too well how painful and itchy they can be. Children are especially prone to chilblains, since their blood-flow regulation is still immature. When I thought about what kind of sock would help prevent them, I landed on a shape that improves circulation without constricting the foot, and a material that won't let sweat get trapped and clammy. And that, surprisingly, turned out to be something close at hand: wool toe socks.

Both the inner silk and outer wool are animal fibers, which naturally have a protective quality. The split-toe shape also stimulates circulation, since the fabric sits between each toe. The silk absorbs moisture and passes it to the wool, which releases it outward — so even if your child works up a sweat playing, their feet absorb and release moisture quickly rather than staying damp and cold.

Our classic Toe Socks, Silk & Wool are knitted thicker than cotton, with a generous, luxurious silk pile that gives the fabric a soft, cushioned feel — comfortable even for children trying toe socks for the first time. It's a difficult adjustment from the previous price, but this reflects the most we can offer right now without compromising on quality. We hope these small feet can grow up healthy, wrapped in the comfort of silk and wool.
