“Material & Color Melange” is knitted with 100% silk on the inside, where it touches the skin, and 100% cotton on the outside.
“Melange” is a French word meaning “to mix” or “mixture.”The silk on the inside is generously knitted in a soft pile structure, helping absorb and release moisture from the soles of the feet for a comfortable, dry feel.

Although the socks have a two-layer construction, the two materials are knitted together as a single fabric,
so the layers do not shift against each other. The moderate thickness makes them comfortable to wear throughout the year.

The inner silk is made with spun silk yarn, giving it a texture that feels less smooth and glossy than conventional silk and slightly closer to linen.
In summer, they are comfortable worn on their own, while in spring, autumn,
and winter, we also recommend layering them over our “Ashi no Hadagi” toe socks.

The combination of different silk and cotton colors creates a soft heathered appearance with a depth that cannot be achieved with a single color.

Our inner and outer layers are knitted with 100% natural fiber yarns. However, socks also need elastic thread to maintain a comfortable fit and stay in place. As elastic thread made entirely from natural materials is not currently available for sock production in Japan, we use synthetic elastic thread (listed as “under thread”). We carefully design our socks so that natural fibers are in contact with the skin as much as possible.

The series previously offered as “Material & Color Melange” has been integrated into “Material & Color Basic” starting this season.
These colors will continue to be introduced as part of the Melange series.
